We are delighted and priviledged to once again have been invited to to hold a CaniX event in this beautiful and unique location.
The CaniX event will be held in Silk Wood, Registration will be held at the CaniX trailer on the hard standing at the rear of the cafe. There is a cafe and toilet availble near registration and further toillets at the entry barriers. There is no camping on site for competitors.
The course is a beautiful trail that works its way around Silk wood using a mixture of single track, trail and forest rides. It will be marked and marshals will be on the course. The Courses for Saturday and Sunday races may differ. Please note that whilst you are welcome to walk the course, or enjoy Silk Wood with your dog outside of race time, you are not permitted to Cani-cross except for during the race. You should also respect the Arboretum rules regarding control of dogs, and be aware of livestock grazing on the "downs" area. No bikes are allowed on site except for those that meet the Forestry Commission rules for this site (intended for use by small children only) more info regarding access here. This year we have the privilege of holding the race before the site opens to members of the public. Please ensure you join the event page and read the race pdf when posted to familiarise yoursefl with signage and rules. Only a very short course briefing will be held at the venue immediately prior to the start.
Those running for the first time should note that whilst we do allow dogs to run on a handheld lead an unrestrictive canicross harness must be used. The use of a runner waist belt in conjunction with this is preferred . We DO NOT allow dogs to run on haltis, flexi-leads, choke or half choke collars or stop-pull harnesses or harnesses that restrict the breathing and natural gait of the dog. Please see the canix website for full rules and advice. www.canix.co.uk.
We have a small amount of canicross equipment available for loan to those coming to their first event, we strongly suggest you message to prebook this.
