The Course starts within Pembrey Country Park, with the start and finish location being located in car park 1, near the beach. It makes use of the woodland trails to skirt the campsite, before entering Pembrey Forest where it makes use of the technical, undulating forest trails and sand dunes. A pond give access to a quick dip for the dogs to cool, before heading back to the finish area. On Monday we return to the revised 10KM course, run on Bank Holiday Monday only, extends further into the forest, taking in little visited areas before rejoining parts of the 5km course and running in reverse back to the start/finish area. .
Pembrey Country park and Forest is a fabulous family venue, with plenty to do to keep the whole family entertained throughout the weekend, including crazy golf, frizbee golf, minature train, dry ski slope and toboggan, plus several marked walking and cycling trails and one of the best beaches in South Wales. The park has its own food provision at Yr Orsaf cafe, plus a milk and milkshake vending machine which has proved popular with runners. Further afield take-aways and supermarkets can be found in nearby kidwelli, Burry Port and Llanelli. These also offer alternative accomodation for those not wanting to camp.
We will have a number of opportunities to meet the CaniX team over the weekend. All competitors and those camping are welcome join us in the event tent in the evening for a social, bring your own chair and drink. Saturday evening we will host a fun quiz.
