I tried the Larsen laser biathlon rifles at the Castle Combe Races last weekend, and I was really impressed! My .22 biathlon rifle has a Larsen Stock similar to the laser rifles so I found it really easy to adapt to them, and they definitely felt like a 'real' rifle, with a decent amount of adjustment. I think that makes them a really useful tool for training, because a firearms license is not required and the rules are far less strict regarding storage. It should also be possible to use them almost anywhere, as you don’t need a 50 metre range (I train 10m air rifle across the hall and living room in my house, which saves me hours of travel each week!). You can shoot them both prone and standing, and they are very accurate, and very unforgiving if you make a mistake in your shot process! They definitely show how difficult shooting is even if you haven’t just skied several kilometres and have no recoil to worry about!
